Yes, it's true Marilyn Manson has retired from music and Kerrang magazine has given him this years Icon award to show their appreciation. According to Manson, he's retiring to become a movie star and director. But having seen his acting performce in Jawbreaker years ago I don't hold too much hope for his acting career.

» Josh Homme collapses onstage
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE were forced to cancel a German gig earlier this week after singer JOSH HOMME collapsed onstage.

The singer fainted at the end of the band’s show on Monday in Hamburg’s Grosse Freiheit 36 (August 29) and was immediately rushed to a local doctor.

Following doctor’s orders, the group pulled their show the next night at Stuttgart’s Theaterhaus (August 31).

A statement posted by QOTSA on their official website qotsa.com said: “Unfortunately, QOTSA had to cancel tonight's show in Stuttgart, Germany, after Josh Homme was diagnosed with exhaustion and ordered to bed by a local doctor.”

They added: “He has been performing every night on this tour despite his physical condition (due to a knee operation less than a week before he left for tour), and it finally caught up with him. He is resting now and in a stable condition.”

The band have been plagued with bad luck over recent months. They were due to debut songs from their latest album ’Lullabies To Paralyze’ in the UK but Homme was taken ill before the first attempt, and the rescheduled dates were thwarted by the London bombings (July 7).

The star’s knee injury occurred whilst the band were performing in Australia. The torn tendons required surgery and the group were forced to pull out of a scheduled appearance on ’Jimmy Kimmel Live’.

QOTSA are due to soldier on with their remaining European dates, and are still set to hit the road for a co-headlining US tour with Nine Inch Nails - kicking off at San Diego Cox Arena (September 16).

JOHNNY BORRELL and PETE DOHERTY have been involved in a backstage bust-up at the CARLING WEEKEND: LEEDS FESTIVAL, NME.COM can reveal. Both bands played on the final night of the event yesterday (August 28) at Bramham Park in Leeds, with Razorlight on the main stage and Babyshambles appearing on the nearby NME / Radio 1 Stage. Witnesses claim that shortly before midnight Doherty went to Razorlight’s dressing room, and headbutted the Razorlight singer. As things got worse, security broke up the fight. A festival source told NME.COM: “We’ve been told that Pete Doherty did in fact have a disagreement with Razorlight. Rumour is that Doherty walked into the band’s dressing room last night after both bands had played and in an unprovoked attack headbutted Johnny Borrell. Johnny put Doherty on the floor and left the dressing room, at which point festival security escorted Doherty from the dressing room and back to his bus." A spokesperson for Doherty was unavailable for comment, however, a spokesperson for the festival confirmed that an incident had taken place, but declined to comment further. e_haha.gif

Rocker: Courtney Love has announced that she is pregnant. Photo: AFP

August 31, 2005

Courtney Love says the baby she is carrying is definitely British comedian Steve Coogan's baby - because she hasn't slept with another man for a year.

The wild rocker confused everyone last week by denying she was expecting a child.

But now the singer has reportedly told Britain's News of the World
newspaper: "I'm pregnant. I only found out 72 hours go. I've only told three people and you're the fourth. I haven't even told Steve yet.

"I've been really unslutty and really picky. I haven't been with another man for a year, which is how I know the baby is his."

The blonde star says she is now considering whether to keep the baby. She is quoted as saying: "I'm old and this maybe my last chance to conceive another child."

On her unlikely choice of partner, she said of Steve - whose TV alter-ego is nerdy radio DJ Alan Partridge: "Steve is not the sort of man I usually go for. Honey, name the 20 sexiest man in the world and I've slept with them.

"But I was lonely at the time and he made me laugh. He was the most magical person I've met in a really long time." - Bang Showbiz
